A journey to Tanzania isn't complete without a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater, often called the “8th Natural Wonder of the World.” The incredible Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which includes the famous Ngorongoro Crater and the Olduvai Gorge, covers approximately 5,157 square miles of natural beauty.
Visitors will see herds of zebra and wildebeest grazing at the crater's rim, while Masai herdsmen wander pastures along the ridge, tending their cattle and goats.
You have a choice of getting there by vehicle safari or by hiking treks, regardless of how you get there you will be mesmerized by its grandness.
Most travelers returning from Tanzania talk about a life-changing experience – witnessing the annual great wildebeest migration in Serengeti National Park, which takes place after the long rains in April, May and June. The Serengeti has an area of 9,173 square miles and lies in the north of Tanzania between Ngorongoro and the shores of Lake Victoria.
The Serengeti has a multitude of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants. ABC's Good Morning America & USA Today recently named Serengeti National Park the "Seventh New Wonder of the World."
At 19,340 feet above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak and the world's highest free-standing mountain. This majestic snow-capped iconic destination is a major draw for mountaineers and trekkers of all experience levels. With the help of porters and a guide, it's possible to walk all the way to the summit without specialized mountaineering equipment. The total climb normally takes five to six days and involves four or five overnight stays in mountain huts. Kilimanjaro can be climbed at any time of the year but the best time is August to October and January to March.
